SIP Template

On this page, you can create your own configuration file templates for the VoIP part of cable modems.

A new template can be entered to the system by clicking on . Enter its name and the code itself. You can use the following variables in these templates:

SIP1_VOIP_NUMBER The primary telephone number
SIP1_USERNAME The username used to log into the SIP server Usually, it is not necessary to fill it in because the username is the same as the telephone number. As a result, the SIP1_VOIP_NUMBERvariable is used when you are logging in. If the username is not the same as the telephone number, the variable will be replaced by the value entered in the Portal login field in the VoIP service settings.
SIP1_PASSWORD The password used to log into the SIP server This item will be replaced in a configuration file by the value entered in the Portal password field.
SIP2_VOIP_NUMBER The secondary telephone number
SIP2_USERNAME The username of the secondary telephone line
SIP2_PASSWORD The password of the secondary telephone line

List of templates

In the overview, there are the following details and options at your disposal:

Template name The name of a given template
Number The number of services using a given template
Default The default template (icon check ok) will be used for all modems that do not have a particular template assigned to them.
You can generate a test configuration file for each template by clicking on this icon (similarly to the way test configuration files are generated for cable modem templates). In this way, you can check whether the parameters of a certain configuration file are set correctly. When the test is finished, the text version of the resulting file is displayed and its binary version is generated. You can then download the latter (Download configuration file). If an error occurs during the compilation of the binary file, an error message will appear.

icon info2 In the overview, there is also a system template (Default template), which you cannot delete. You can only edit it. If a certain template is assigned to the VoIP service, you cannot delete it either.

In each template, you have to set the DNS name and the IP address of the SIP server for both VoIP lines. The DNS and the IP address of the SIP server are the same (IP address = the translated DNS name of the SIP server). In the default template, the SIP server name is sip.net-service.cz and the IP address is 95.173.193.60. You have to replace these items with your own data.

When you are in the process of adding/editing a VoIP service in the Client card, you can choose the template that will be used when the configuration file is generated. You can do it as follows: Check the Generate Configuration File box. As soon as you have done that, new fields will appear. In the Connected drop-down menu, you can choose the Primary option (= the first VoIP line on a given modem - the configuration file is set accordingly) or the Secondary option (= the second VoIP line on a given modem). In view of the fact that there is only one configuration file for both VoIP lines, the VoIP lines have to be “linked” together. For this reason, the phone numbers offered in the Secondary menu are those that have been marked as Primary. When you select a particular phone number, the secondary line is linked to this primary number and the corresponding configuration file. In the SIP template drop-down menu, you can then choose a particular configuration file template. You can choose a certain template only if the phone number in question is set as primary. If not, this option is unavailable. In that case, the SIP template will be set according to the primary number. If you do not choose any of the templates offered, the system will use the default one (the one set in Settings Syst. settings CATV SIP Template). If everything is set correctly, configuration files should be saved within 5 minutes to the directory /data/support/tftp_root/. VoIP configuration files start with the voip_ prefix.

icon info2 For the VoIP part of a modem to boot correctly, it is necessary to add theoption voipopt xxxxxx to DHCP. Without this option, the VoIP modem (the phone part) will not be able to receive from the DHCP server information about where the TFTP server with configuration files is located. As a result, the VoIP part of the modem will be inactive. The DHCP option has the following format: option voipopt 01:04:d4:c0:a8:0a:0c; The TFTP server in question has to be the same as the standard TFTP server used for the data part of the modem. The system expects that both the data part and the VoIP part of the modem will boot from the same TFTP server (generated configuration files are saved to one single directory). The address of the TFTP server has to be the same as the one entered in the dhcp_next_server key in Settings Syst. settings Linux. In the Routed network section of the settings of a particular router, it is necessary to add the DHCP option to the network in which IP addresses for VoIP modems are assigned (either the IP address range of a modem or the IP address range reserved for VoIP phones). You may edit each of these routed networks. When editing, you can see the DHCP option checkbox. When you check the box, you can enter your own option (in this case for the boot of the VoIP modem). The VoIP part will NOT be active without it.
