System

This page provides an overview of ISPadmin system backups.

If backup is activated, it takes place every day at a specified time. You can configure it according to your needs in Settings Syst. settings Backups.

System backups consist of these parts:

  • db - binary backups of all MySQL databases
  • db_dump - textual backups of all MySQL databases
  • etc - backups of the whole /etc directory, where most of the Linux configuration files are to be found
  • graph - backups of all user graphs in ISPadmin (/data/support/ispadmin/client_images/)
  • ispadmin - ISPadmin system (/data/support/ispadmin)
  • scripts - backups of ISPadmin scripts

The table contains information about how many files there are in a given folder, when the last backup was created and what the total size of the data in a given folder is. Files can be deleted by clicking on the icon delete2 icon.

When you click on the Create FTP backup button, the system launches the backup of the system, and when it is done, it transfers this backup to the FTP server. Bear in mind that the process may take anywhere from several minutes to several hours. The time needed to complete the backup depends on the following factors: the amount of data in the system, HDD performance, the current system load, the bandwidth between the ISPadmin server and the FTP server.

icon info2 If the transfer of backups to your FTP server does not work, check whether the passive mode option is activated in the FTP server configuration.

icon info2 Copying backups to an FTP server is important because it provides for the situation where your hardware fails (controller fails, server catches fire) or where the data are lost because of a human error (disc was formatted, backup was unintentionally removed). You cannot rely on RAID only. RAID1 is not backup. It is only a way to ensure that the system is available when one of the disks fails. You may use your own or our FTP server to store backups. FTP transmissions can be encrypted.

By clicking on Back up, you start the immediate backup of the system. Again, bear in mind that the process may take anywhere from several minutes to several hours. The time needed to complete the backup depends on the following factors: the amount of data in the system, HDD performance and the current system load.

When you click on the name of one of the directories, the system will show you a page with corresponding backups. These contain individual files. In the overview, the following details are displayed for every backup:
